I work using a strengths-based, empirically supported approach and consider both science and warmth to be essential ingredients in successful treatment.
I view therapy as an opportunity for clients not only to reduce distressing symptoms and overcome difficulties but also to gain a sense of mastery, understand themselves more fully, and live lives more in line with their unique set of values.
I use a cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach tailored specifically to each client’s needs, and often utilize techniques from acceptance-based CBT models such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I was educated and trained at Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and within the Veterans Health Administration, and have specific expertise in treating depression, anxiety, and chronic pain. I see individual adults, including older adults.
I enjoy working collaboratively as part of a psychologist-client team, and consider it a privilege to help clients navigate difficult periods and/or challenging transitions, such as retirement.
